Good progress being made on pilot research with GRAMNetCSMP is collaborating with Glasgow Refugee, Asylum and Migration Network (GRAMNet) at the University of Glasgow on pilot research that considers the social and cultural impacts of migration in Scotland. Professor Rebecca Kay is with us during July and August and has now commenced analysis of transcripts from the various interviews she carried out in July. |

Human Trafficking conference a successCOSLA's conference on human trafficking took place on Wednesday 15 August. There was excellent turn-out on the day with representatives of local authorities across Scotland joined by the key agencies involved in tackling human trafficking. Feedback on the event was very positive. The resources from the conference will be available on our website next week.

First meeting of CSMP Board since 2012 electionThe first meeting of the CSMP Board since the 2012 local government election took place yesterday at the COSLA Conference Centre in Edinburgh. The meeting was well attended and there was wide-ranging discussion of migration issues. Papers are now available to download. |

Council of Europe publishes report on UK's progress tackling Human TraffickingLast week the Council of Europe published the Group of Experts on Action Against Trafficking Human Beings (GRETA)'s report on the UK's progress on implementing the Council of Europe Convention on Action against Trafficking in Human Beings. CSMP will use this report to inform their work to support local authorities in Scotland to contribute to the fight against human trafficking. |

New briefing on the domestic violence concessionThe NRPF Network have published this useful briefing which explains the domestic violence concession which was introduced in April 2012 to provide support to victims of domestic violence on spouses visas.
